the question. the first version was a watchlist with a search box, and it never answered the question i actually had: where can i watch this tonight? the rebuild starts there. every title shows the services it streams, rents or sells on in your region, with the ones you pay for first.
where to watch. tmdb supplies the titles, cast and artwork; justwatch supplies the streaming, rental and purchase availability through tmdb. once that data was in, the rest followed: series with their seasons, anime as its own shelf, and whole franchises like the mcu and dune laid out in release order, so you can see what came before and what's next.
episode by episode. then it kept going sideways. cast and crew got pages of their own, and studios, networks and tags each open everything under them. every series has a ratings graph with one square per episode, and anime seasons hundreds of episodes long are split into their arcs so the graph stays readable. tap an episode and you get its still, crew and clips.
the case. the motion is the part i care about most. the home page is a 3d ring of dvd cases positioned with plain maths on a spring, and the case you tap is the case that flies into its page and opens on the disc. going back reverses it and puts the case back where you took it from. no animation library, just the view transitions api and a lot of watching frames.
